In fact it can be difficult to find any kind of affordable vacation on Barbados that has the kind of quality you need. If you want a bigger beach, then Rockley beach is only a few minutes away and here if you use the beach bar you get free sunbeds and umbrellas.

Apartment hotels like the Coral Mist Beach Hotel are of course essentially self catering, and this does give you an amazing amount more freedom. You aren’t tied to hotel mealtimes, or dress code, and that changes your whole attitude to eating, and behaviour patterns.  There is a restaurant on site but the choices are somewhat limited, but there’s a benefit in that too.

You can try all the local restaurants and eat different food every night, go to the supermarket which is five minutes walk away and buy stuff for a leisurely breakfast, nibbles to have with your drinks, which by the way are very good value.

A good tip here is when you have a drink in a bar, don’t drink beer it’s comparatively expensive, drink cocktails for real value for money.

The restaurants that are local you may want to try are The Lucky Horseshoe, Berts, Champers which is next door, and then go to ‘The Gap’ which is about a twenty minute walk or a £5 taxi ride, and it has The Ship, McBrides, and the Harlequin which are well worth trying. Overall you will enjoy the local food, and the standard nowadays is good.

To summarise the Coral Mist Beach Hotel in a few words is tricky, but it is good beachfront Barbados Accommodation for the price. The rooms are large, well equipped, clean, and comfortable. The situation lends itself to being in the local community as you will eat out a lot, so you will learn a lot more about Barbados and its people than if you were staying in a five star.. The staff are willing, and more than helpful, and really you could have a great family vacation at an affordable price in this Apartment Hotel.
